I have worked in the newspaper industry for nine years as a page designer and copy editor. I am also a freelance invitation and announcement designer. Some day I would like to own and operate my own stationery store.

I am a wife and a mother.

Responsibilities: Designing A1, Local and Life section fronts. Participating in daily design meetings with editors to discuss art possibilities for the day. Working with photographers and graphic artists to identify and create displaypackages for section fronts. Coordinating with editors, reporters and copy editors to produce advanced packages and multi-day series for Sunday A1. Copy editing and proofreading pages when needed.
Created a pet blog with co-workers. Maintain posts and discussions on the blog. Maintain Twitter and Facebook pages for pet blog.

Page Designer at The Herald-Sun

July 2003 – January 2006
Responsibilities: Designing A and local sections of The Herald-Sun and The Chapel Hill Herald, and weekly features section Healthy Living. Applying design styles and creating eye- catching pages to guide the readers through the information. Coordinating with editors, reporters and copy editors to produce advanced packages and multi-day series. Copy editing and proofreading pages when needed.

Copy Editor/Page Designer at Danville Register & Bee

June 2002 – July 2003
Responsibilities: Working nightly on a five- person copy desk to produce a.m. daily. Editing staff-written stories, writing cutlines and headlines. Designing A, region and feature section fronts and inside pages. Creating information graphics, charts and locator maps. Participating in aspects of redesign: section fronts,   front page teasers and typography.
